The developer, West Bend Property Co., has fused the memorable icons of traditional neighborhoods--comfortable homes, inviting front porches, alley garages and tree-shaded streets--with advanced concepts of "new urban" community integration and environmental sensitivity. Add one more ingredient to the potpourri of cultural, economic, architectural and environmental components that define the character of NorthWest Crossing: an ongoing series of large and small street festivals and community events, e-mail and printed newsletters, and an intranet shared by residents. Thus have the developers, builders and homeowners of NorthWest Crossing together established a unique imprint on the Bend housing market.

The 486-acre mixed-use neighborhood is being developed in phases to control sprawl. It includes two schools, nearly 35 acres dedicated to community parks and open spaces, 30 acres assigned for commercial use, 15 acres designated as mixed-use employment, and 40 acres for light industrial development.

Two focal points of commNWX-web-Sage.jpgunity activity are the Neighborhood Center at NorthWest Crossing, which provides dining and retail services, and the five-acre Compass Park which divides one of the development's principal arteries, NW Crossing Dr., into a giant roundabout with the park in the center, overlooked by homes on the perimeter.

The first home in NWX was completed and sold in August 2007. West Bend Property Co. is not a builder, but instead sells developed lots to individuals and approved builders. With the onset of 2010, a demonstrable demand for new homes in NorthWest Crossing has encouraged several builders to construct speculative new homes, a number of which have been sold prior to completion. An Architectural Review Committee must approve floor and site plans, exterior architecture and colors.NWX-web-Pisanos.jpg Homes are positioned to retain as many trees and natural features as possible.

Lot sales have been brisk in 2009 and 2010. Most of the remaining parcels in the developer's listed inventory are large lots commanding premium prices because of size, view and natural features. Infrastructure work is under way to make Phase 14 ready for release in late spring. This release includes lots of varying sizes and prices.
