The following linked pages describe three elements that we have combined under the heading of logistics:Air transportation. Commercial air traffic into Roberts Field in Redmond, which serves Central Oregon, continues to grow at a record-setting pace. This reflects the vitality of the tourist industry in Bend and surrounding localities and indicates an increasing volume of business traffic to and from Central Oregon. An aviation industry consultant in Eugene recently dubbed Roberts Field “the hottest airport in the Pacific Northwest.” Increases in general aviation activity at Bend, Prineville, Madras and Sunriver airports, and improvements to facilities, are also described.
Lodging. New lodging facilities on the horizon include a luxury hotel in downtown Bend and several hotels in Redmond. This page provides links to lodging directories on Bend Visitor and Convention Bureau and Central Oregon Visitors Assn. web sites. Destination resorts account for many of the vacation rooms in Central Oregon; a page describing current resorts and developments underway is found under the Recreation tab on the navigation bar.
Meeting facilities. Bend and Redmond are beginning to show up on convention planners’ radar, with a huge amount of indoor and outdoor space available at the Deschutes County Fair & Expo Center in Redmond and a sophisticated new convention center at the Riverhouse Resort and Hotel in Bend.
