Bend swimmers score
In regional competition

BEND, Ore.--Hats off to two competitive swimmers in the local real estate community who, dare we say, blew the competition out of the water at the Hood River, Ore., SC (Short Course) Meters Northwest Zone Championship Nov. 1-2. United States Masters Swimming sanctioned the event.

Gary Oliver, a broker with The Garner Group Realtors & Development LLC, finished first in his age group in five events—the 50-meter freestyle, backstroke and butterfly and the 100 and 400-meter individual medley—setting a state record for the 400-meter IM in the process. Oliver also finished third in the 50-meter breaststroke.

Bend developer Mike Tennant of Tennant Developments LLC, a frequent winner in masters swimming competition, swam to first place in his age group in four events—the 50-meter breaststroke and butterfly, 100-meter butterfly and 400-meter individual medley—and second in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Oliver and Tennant are avid recreational swimmers who are no strangers to first place in masters meets. US Masters Swimming, through a network of regional zone and state organizations composed of local swim clubs, coordinates competitive adult swimming programs nationwide.
