Sara LaFaver reconnected with The Garner Group in November 2009 to become the company's Principal Broker. She has 15 years of experience in real estate sales and administration, title and escrow services and property taxation and assessment. She was with The Garner Group as it grew to become the leading team within Bend's most productive franchise real estate agency.
The Garner Group became an independent real estate company in January 2008.Sara is an Oregon native. Born in Portland, she has lived most of her life in Bend, Redmond and Maupin and is a graduate of Redmond High School. For the first five years of her career, she worked for title and escrow companies in Bend and Washington state. Her duties expanded from accounting, recording and title research to customer service and eventually to the position of title examiner.
Sara joined Sandy and Jay Garner in 1999 as office assistant and as the team grew, so did her responsibilities. After the team became branded as The Garner Group in 2002, Sara seerved as transaction coordinator and later as office manager, an administrative assignment that embraced a variety of responsibilities related to builder and client relationships, financial management and the comprehensive record keeping required by Oregon real estate law. Sara earned her Oregon real estate Broker's license in 2002.
Family responsibilities took her to Redding, Calif., briefly in 2007 as husband Jason LaFaver pursued a career opportunity. After they moved back to Bend, Sara worked for one year in the Deschutes County Assessor's Office, gaining a government perspective on the subjects of real estate taxation and assessment.
Sara and Jason live in Bend with their two sons, Lucas and Samuel. Their free time revolves around outdoor activities such as boating and camping, and enjoying life in Central Oregon with their two active boys.
Sara has earned the National Assn. of Realtors GREEN designation. This certification by NAR's Green Resource Council came upon completion of a three-day classroom course focusing on fundamentals of green building practices, consumer awareness and marketing of homes built to green standards. She has been elected to the Central Oregon Association of Realtors board of directors for the 2012 term.
