An Oregon native, Michael was born and raised in the Medford/Ashland area. He graduated from Oregon State University and during his early career worked with the Indianapolis Colts football team and Hoist Fitness Systems in San Diego. Michael and his wife, Brie, returned to Oregon in 2002 and he joined the family business, Mahar Homes Inc., becoming a partner and vice president in 2004.Founded in 1990, the Medford company is the largest custom home builder in the Rogue Valley and is diversified into development of residential neighborhoods, office parks and retirement communities. Michael's experience ranged across the full spectrum of corporate activities.
Now a resident of Bend, Michael obtained his Oregon real estate Broker's license early in 2010 and brings a detailed construction and development background to The Garner Group. Michael also is a partner in a Bend health club. He and Brie, a nurse at St. Charles Medical Center-Bend, live in NorthWest Crossing with two daughters, Metali and Tanaya.
Michael has earned the National Assn. of Realtors GREEN designation. This certification by NAR's Green Resource Council came upon completion of a three-day classroom course focusing on fundamentals of green building practices, consumer awareness and marketing of homes built to green standards.
