Phyllis has been a licensed Realtor® since 1988, first in the state of Hawaii and since 2005 in the state of Oregon. A native of the Monterey Bay, Calif., area, she moved to the Hawaiian Islands to visit relatives and explore her Hawaiian heritage.
This visit evolved into a 20-year stay in Maui, where she began her real estate career.Phyllis moved to Bend in 2004 with her husband Timo and son Jake. She obtained her Oregon broker’s license the following year and continued her career in Bend, joining The Garner Group in August 2011.
She is certified by the Earth Advantage Institute as a STAR (Sustainability Training for Accredited Real Estate Professionals) broker and by the Distressed Property Institute as a Certified Distressed Property Expert. The former provides brokers with the knowledge and skills to communicate with clients about the value and benefits of green homes; the latter focuses on knowledge and tools necessary to handle distressed properties and close short sales successfully.
A board member since 2006, Phyllis is 2011 president of the of the Central Oregon Chapter, Women’s Council of Realtors®. She was co-chair of the American Cancer Society 2010 Relay for Life of Bend/Redmond/Sisters and has been involved with this organization since 2007.
She holds a black belt in Taekwondo and with her family enjoys Central Oregon outdoor activities including fishing, sailing and mountaineering.
